MEDIA AND THE GOSPEL

March 3, 2009

Adrian Stirbu is a 25-year-old student at Eastern Europe Bible College in Romania. He relates how during his high school years, he developed a passion for photography, a passion inherited from his grandmother who was a photographer. After finishing high school, he had to make a choice between following this passion or doing something that would bring him a lot of money. After a while, he realized he could not follow his passion, and decided to give it up and to go get training to be more efficient in God's work.

Adrian had been serving in his church in the audio-video area, taking photos that were later used on the church's web site, using the audio mixer, and also video editing the Sunday sermons to be broadcast on the local TV station. Then he felt a strong call from God to study at EEBC and become better in his media work. After sharing this decision with his parents, they told him to do whatever he wanted, but that they could not support him financially.

Since coming to EEBC, he has served by video taping two conferences and also taking photos for the web site. He also has been working at the local Christian radio station, doing voice for a Christian drama. These experiences have helped him to develop the ability to talk using a radio microphone. He also has translated for a teacher that was interviewed on the radio.

Adrian's latest project is an on-line radio station for young
listeners. He is doing his best to equip himself and be better
trained in the area of media. He is enriching his knowledge by attending a conference about magazine design, and also doing an internship at a Christian TV station. Adrian realizes that media is a strong tool for spreading the Gospel.
