Director's Message

One Every 10 Seconds
It is estimated that there are over 600 million Pentecostal charismatics in the world. The AG has over 60 million constituents in the World Assemblies of God Fellowship. This means that 10 percent of the Pentecostal charismatic population is Assemblies of God. And if you would consider that the world population is 6 billion, the Assemblies of God, with over 60 million, represents 1 percent of the total of the world population.
As a Fellowship we minister in 214 countries of the world, with 98 of them in the un- or least-reached territories. There are an estimated 322,537 churches and 330,207 ministers in the World Assemblies of God Fellowship. There are an estimated 2143 Bible and extension schools, with a student body of over 100,000 students.
The Assemblies of God U.S.A. sends out over 2700 missionaries and missionary associates, over 13,000 short-term workers, and partners with over 7800 missionaries from 76 other countries (working in about 208 countries of the world).
The statistic that really impresses us is that 1 person is added to the Assemblies of God worldwide every 10 seconds, and 1 church is added every 30 minutes.
The mission statement of Assemblies of God World Missions is the following:
- Reaching. We are proclaiming the message of Jesus Christ to the spiritually lost in all the world through every available means.
- Planting. We are establishing churches in more than 150 nations, following the New Testament pattern.
- Training. We are training leaders throughout the world to proclaim the message of Jesus Christ to their own people and to other nations.
- Touching. We are touching poor and suffering people with the compassion of Jesus Christ and inviting them to become His followers.
The uniqueness of the Pentecostal mission, of which the Assemblies of God in the United States and around the world is but one part, is the fact that we are people of the Spirit. Our part in missions is not just a rational strategy; it is a radical strategy. It is a strategy that Jesus modeled in His ministry on earth when he said in Luke 4:18–19, “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor” (NIV).
It is the year of God’s favor. Let’s continue to work, for the night is coming.
May the Lord richly bless you.
